TechDays Hong Kong 2014; My Speaking Engagements

TechDays Hong Kong 2014 is under way, It would be 11-13 of March 2014. and I am glad that I’ll present four sessions in this conference.

Sessions are:

Advanced Data
Transformations with Power Query

Deeper Data Insight and Prediction with
Data Mining

ETL Architecture for
Solving Data Warehouse Challenges

Power BI Data
Visualization with Power Map and Power View

Details of sessions explained as below:

Title: Advanced Data Transformations with
Power Query

Level: 300

Description:

Power Query is the self-service data consolidation tool of the
Power BI embedded in Excel. Power Query has ability to fetch data from variety
of data source, and apply transformations through Power Query Formula language
known as M. This session covers advanced transformation samples of M formulas
to solve real world data consolidation challenges. Many of useful Power Query
formula functions with live demos will be explored through this session.

Title: Deeper Data Insight and Prediction
with Data Mining

Level: 200

Description:

Data Mining is the art of data analysis,
finding data models, and predicting future behaviour based on existing data
set. Microsoft Data Mining provides a set of robust and reliable algorithms
such as Decision Tree, Association Rules, Clustering… which are powerful to
apply on any structured dataset. In this session you will learn opportunities
to use Data Mining in real world challenges. There will be lots of demos of
Microsoft Data Mining applied on real world scenarios.

Title: ETL Architecture for Solving Data Warehouse Challenges

Level: 300

Description:

Data Warehouses are heavily in use nowadays in most of businesses
around the world. Data Warehousing brings higher performance, faster and more
insightful data analysis out of operational databases. By the way there are
some challenges in design and implementing Data Warehouses which needs robust
and reliable ETL implementation. In this session you will learn an ETL
Architecture implemented by SSIS and MDS to solve couple of most challengeable
Data Warehousing scenarios which are Slowly Changing Dimension and Inferred
Dimension Member. There will be many demos through this session which helps you
to understand design and implementation of the architecture.

Title: Power BI Data Visualization with Power Map and Power View

Level: 200

Description:

Power BI is the most recent BI technology and tool provided by Microsoft
for Self-Service BI and mobility. Power BI uses Power View for dashboard design
and Power Map for 3D Geospatial data visualization. Power Map and Power View
are great tools to tell insightful stories of the data with features like
interactive views and tours. In this session you will learn how to visualize
data with Power View and Power Map with lots of live demos. You don’t need to
be an expert in SQL Server to work with Power BI, all data visualization
development happens in the Excel add-Ins.

This would be my second visit to Hong Kong, Last time I’ve spoke in TechDays HK 2013. Thanks to Microsoft Hong Kong for giving me the opportunity to speak again. If you are sitting on any of my sessions come and say Hi 🙂
