Many organizations nowadays are in transition from on-premises to cloud, and many of them use hybrid solutions where part of the computing will be done in cloud and the rest on-premises. The trend nowadays is to use cloud to have better maintenance, lower costs, more reliable solutions, lower administrative efforts, and powerful shared resources. In BI world there is a high demand for solutions to be on cloud, some computing services such as data transfer and ETL to be done on cloud, some data analysis and mining solutions happens on cloud, and even data to be stored on cloud data warehouse at some stage. There are many BI vendors in the market, but there are few who provide BI on the cloud.
Fortunately Microsoft has good set of services and solutions for Cloud BI, part of that service is Power BI which you’ve learned about it in previous post. The rest and remaining part of the Cloud BI solution of Microsoft sits on Azure which is Microsoft Cloud service. Microsoft has some services in Azure that helps in data warehousing and business intelligence on the cloud. In this post you’ll find these services and some reference links for them.
10-1- Azure HDInsigh
This is Hadoop based service for managing big data, computing, and reporting out of that. Big data and hadoop require their own posts and discussions and it would be never enough to discuss them here.
For Azure services the best that I usually recommend is Microsoft Azure documentations which contains videos as well.
Azure Data Factory Videos:
In previous post I’ve explained what Azure Machine Learning is, but for conformity and completeness of the post I’ll repeat that here;
Microsoft recently released a new service as part of Microsoft Azure services named Azure Machine Learning or Azure ML. This is Microsoft new data mining technology which works cloud based, with great collaboration with data mining powerful engine of R, and is highly extensible. This technology is new, but there is a very good documentation on Azure website for that with bunch of tutorial videos, there also couple of books that I would like to mention below.
